Buongiorno from Italy!

Here everything is just fine, if you were wondering. Could it be any different with sun, pizza and lake water? It would be self-inflicted.

We are currently getting the most out of the surroundings. Sunday evening we are going home from Milan, so now it’s a matter of how much we can get out of the Italians. A little more coffee for one euro, a little more occhio di bue (if you don’t know what that is, the answer is on my insta), as the bakery on the local supermarket makes a brilliant version, maybe a pizza and at least a handful of dips in the pool, thanks.

Here is a small postcard from the last fourteen days.

A short visit to the way too hot Milan – we drove there mainly to visit the Marni outlet (and no worries, it will be included in my little guide to the area) that the city is so proud of. And we decided to stay a couple of hours and see all the common things; the cathedral and the gallery with the beautifully vaulted glass ceiling. Too many people and it being so hot, however, made us drive back to the country again. But the smell of Milan, we got it!

Travel partner #1

I really would like to get better at traveling with my girlfriends and can easily envy those who travel with their good friends. But if I finally could squeeze a little holiday in, I always end up with this guy. It’s just so uncomplicated, and we usually want the same. 1) good coffee 2) Good food. 3) Shadow. It just works.

Can you recognize it? A movie that we enjoyed watching, the movie that made us go to northern Italy to start with. Of course, we should see the city in IRL, now we were in the area, and it has been one of our favourites on the trip. So lovely, cosy and with a lot of good food and coffee.

My most Italian mama look so far; giant sunglasses and an Italian on the arm.

There are many of you who ask for the Marni bag I brought on holiday. It is not purchased at the outlet but here shortly before our departure (advertising link). Stupid timing just before the holiday you would think, but I’m obsessed with the colours, the combination and it’s going to last a lifetime. I have not bought a fancy bag since 2015 when I bought my Gucci Dionysus – it’s just such a big decision that I end up being unable to push GO. But here the heart advised and I really love it. It can also store it all; mobile phone, purse, keys, power bank, lipstick and a small hair clip.

The loveliest little coffee shop and the only cool “third wave” coffee shop we have been able to find so far – of course we had to go to Milan to find it. And the coffee was so good that we had to go a second time on our way from Lago d’Orta to Crema.

Simple, beautiful, clean.

Yes, it’s hot. Yesterday it reached 38-39 degrees, so the pace is slow and the intake of water enormous. But the point is also that we take it easy. It has been like that for two weeks now. Despite from a long day in Venice walking 13 km, we have been taking it slow the other days. And today I’m going to copy this picture. Hat and pool.

Lake Garda – we were advised not to go there by several Italians. At least this is not where they go on holiday. Damn touristy and more Germans than Italians – road signs, menus, even the service at restaurant can be done in fluent German, if need be it. But I do think that it’s very beautiful here. Especially when we can pull ourselves away from the noise and sit on the balcony with the view of the moon and the quiet lake.

Venice – fantastic to come back after almost 20 years. Too noisy indeed and yes, maybe too touristy. But we went and explored new areas I hadn’t seen before. The Jewish area up north was so wonderful. Beautiful, calm – and an opportunity to see Venetians. You can easily forget that – it’s not a Tivoli/a theme park but actually a real city with citizens.

One of them a day, per favore. We have now learned the following; “Due gusti, uno coppa con panna, per favore”. And uno / un / una – certainly not correct, but they understand it and we get ice cream. “Prego!”
