It’s been a while since Adam last shot my outfit photos, but when your in-house photographer is on holiday in Tulum (my auto-correct corrected it to Aulum (in Jutland), but I think it’s less tropical over there), you have to turn to old favourites. Once upon a time, Adam shot all of the outfit photos (until he almost announced dangers ahead for our marriage if he were to continue). And he’s good at it. And his prize was within reach; our staycation with a swanky dinner, which was my treat. He took his time, and the task does demand certain amounts of patience.
On our way to the hotel, we stopped at Christiansborg Palace (the seat of the Danish Parliament). We’ve never taken photos there before – I rarely go that far, and especially not in these days, but in this case I had my very own driver, hehe… You may have seen it on my story, how Adam was racing around with me in the cargo bike. It’s so cool. Especially when you’ve got a small blanket for your thighs, just like old folks have on a moped, haha! You know the kind I’m talking about? My grandad’s mastered a rabbit and turtle pace, haha. I’ve photographed the cargo bike so I can write about it sometime as SO many of you were asking about it.
However, for now, it’s all about the lady-like look. I honestly needed that – a bit of scrubbing up after spending most of the week at home, indoor, napping in leggings and being quite maternity leave-like. Just applying a bit of makeup, washing my hair – wow, it was good. Putting on a rather beautiful and comfy dress from Selected. To those of you who were asking about the size. Buying my normal size or one size up works well – as long as the fit is quite loose, as is the case with this dress. I have an up-coming post about everything to do with sizes, though – how I’ve managed to avoid buying maternity clothes, etc.
It has altogether been quite the weekend.
Last Thursday, it really felt like we were getting there – lots of movement, very intense sporadic uterine contractions, zero appetite. So many signs over the weekend, as well, that I really felt like we had to revise all of the practical things while going for a long walk after the dinner on Saturday night. What if it happens tonight, then what? We came here by bike. We can’t just leave it here. People steal that shit. And all of our stuff back home. The hospital bag. I decided that Adam would have to wheel us back home in the dark of the night. Night trip in cargo bike with contractions? Neeeat, neat, neat, haha!
Well, it turned out to be an unnecessary concern because nothing has happened yet. And I’m pretty sure we’ll be facing more days like that – where I’m thinking that NOW it’s probably happening (and it will at some point).
When we quietly arrived back in our yard at lunch time today, I was surprised by my dearest friends instead. And then I started crying. Clever boy, staying in there so I could see all of my friends for perhaps the last time before the birth. It was very touching. And all of the fine cards and all of the effort they’d made. It just was so touching.
So, yes, quite the weekend, which we’ll end with a nice trip around the Lakes with Frida and perhaps a bit of Ozark on the tv from the sofa! There’s a certain calm to expecting, which I really like.
